Mike Gardner Music Productions
Mike Gardner Music Productions has grown out of owning and operating Mike Gardner
Studio in Raleigh, NC since 1986. I have been writing, playing and recording music for 40
plus years. I grew up in the days of analog and tape, and was one of the first in the area to
invest in the "new" world of 24 bit Pro Tools. I lost my room in a divorce and later moved to
Myrtle Beach SC, where luckily I met my friend David Atwater. David's studio, the Sound
Hole, is much like my old room. It's in the lower level of his suburban home, very private
and cozy , with all creature comforts and state of the art HD Pro Tools with the latest PT
version 8 software and HD visuals. We offer almost every option in monitors including
Mackie, JBL, Yamaha NS 10's, Tannoy and others. Our mic selection rivals anyone in the
area, including Neumann U 47 FET, classic U 87s, Blue B7 capsules, AKG 414s,
451s,D12, D112, Sennhieser 421s, 441s, lots of old and new Shure SM57s, 58s, VP 88
stereo mics, SM 81s....pretty much every thing Shure makes as well as various EV mics
including a pair of old shotgun mics, Audio Technica and a variety of other specialty mics.
One of my favorite "vibe" mics is a 1950's RCA BK 5 Ribbon mic. This is referenced as
Bing Crosby's vocal sound and was used in many classic movies and recordings. We have
added much new and top quality mic preamps such as API, Great River, Presonus, SPL
HD Tube, SPL Mic Man, Drawmer 1960, Distressors, and just about every toy known to
music production.
My latest project is "On These Airwaves", a project that because of scheduling took almost
a year to complete. The primary writer, Eric Long and I were introduced by a mutual friend,
Tom Yoder one of the premiere guitarist in America. I've had the great honor to produce
Tom's last three projects. Two of the last three projects have won National Honors in the
"International Song Writers Contest", with judges, the like's of, Steve Vai.
Eric and I became partners in musical crime and "OTA " came into being and the CD has
received great reviews so far. CD's are available at www.ontheseairwaves.com.
